Brendan Smith: As REPS is now closed to new entrants, I have decided to change the rules that applied when participants died in the course of their contracts. Under the new rule, which will apply in the case of the person named, a survivor of a deceased participant may take over and finish the contract. Detailed instructions for the new arrangements will issue to my Department's local offices shortly.
