Róisín Shortall: I presume the cost of staffing should be recognised in the contract or provided by the State. It strikes me that while Dr. McGarry has a genuine concern about GPs who have already invested in their premises, whether a converted house or a primary care centre------

Róisín Shortall: -----the concern is about undermining that. Would it not make more sense for us to recognise the issue of premises? Dr. McGarry says GPs invest significantly in their practices. That is fine for GPs who can do that but there are many who are not in a position to invest in practices. They are doctors first and foremost rather than business people.
