- Seanad: Garda Síochána Bill 2004: Second Stage. (2 Mar 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I am glad the Minister is the same gender as Senator Norris or he might have a reason to lash back following the Senator's reference to him as a wise old bird. I welcome the Minister to the House. The time he spends here is a positive indicator not only of how he views this Chamber but of how committed and hard-working he is. My nomination to contest a Seanad seat came from the Irish...
- Seanad: Order of Business. (2 Mar 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I wish to support an issue raised earlier on the Order of Business by Senator O'Toole. I call on the Leader to communicate with the committee that has responsibility for and deals with the media. Over the past six weeks, we have seen incredible journalism, but at the wrong end of the spectrum. What we saw at the weekend was reckless and opportunistic journalism. There were no winners in the...
- Seanad: Dormant Accounts: Motion. (25 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: It is not true; only a small percentage of people think this.
- Seanad: Dormant Accounts: Motion. (25 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I welcome the Minister of State to the House and I enjoyed listening to what he had to say. I am delighted to support the Government amendment to this motion. There is much hysteria and confusion among the Opposition. It does not want to listen, it only wants to shout and roar back. As the Minister said, this was in the public domain and nobody took any notice of it until the media ran with...

- Seanad: Equality Bill 2004: Report and Final Stages. (24 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I too thank the Minister for having a look at this. Senator Terry put much work into it. She sought it in an earlier amendment and, two or three amendments on, lest the Minister did not give in, she intended to get him on this one. The Minister has done well. We are all in agreement with a good amendment.
- Seanad: Equality Bill 2004: Report and Final Stages. (24 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I too congratulate the Minister of State and his hardworking staff for their contribution to this Bill and the long hours they have spent here. It is a very progressive Bill which provoked hours of excellent debate, albeit difficult at times. All sides made fine contributions. Senator Tuffy should know that the Labour Party is not alone in feeling strongly about these issues; all sides share...

Geraldine Feeney: One's vote is private.
- Seanad: Order of Business. (12 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I join Senator Brian Hayes in calling for a debate on sentencing. There are matters around sentencing that give rise to concern. Could we include in that debate counselling and rehabilitation while the offender is serving that sentence? According to media reports offenders accused of terrible crimes are being released without having had rehabilitation or counselling.
- Seanad: Regional Development: Motion. (11 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: Rubbish.

Geraldine Feeney: The Senator should address the issue.
- Seanad: Regional Development: Motion. (11 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I congratulate the Minister for Finance, Deputy McCreevy, and the Government on the wonderful initiative we know as decentralisation. I was born and reared in what is now a gateway town and I am now fortunate enough to live in another gateway town. I know at first hand the immeasurable impact decentralisation has on a town such as Sligo. We have the pensions section of the Department of...
- Seanad: Immigration Bill 2004 [Seanad Bill amended by the Dáil]: Report and Final Stages. (11 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: On a point of order, a Leas-Chathaoirligh. It was agreed before you took the Chair that Opposition Senators could address the Bill in general. I do not see what the presentation being made by Senator Terry has to do with the Bill.
- Seanad: Immigration Bill 2004 [Seanad Bill amended by the Dáil]: Report and Final Stages. (11 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: Part of the correspondence which we all received from Schizophrenia Ireland states: Schizophrenia Ireland would request that the Minister clarify, publicly, that people with psychosis have no connection whatsoever with people who are sociopaths, that there is no scientific evidence linking the two, and that the scientific evidence supports that people with mental illness are no more dangerous...
- Seanad: Proposed Stadium at Lansdowne Road: Statements. (5 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I bow to the superior knowledge of my male colleagues. I am wearing my heart on my sleeve today. Some Senators will remember me standing in the same spot a number of months ago when I defended Connacht rugby. Last week's news was music to my ears. I am delighted with the Government's decision to develop Lansdowne Road. The Minister was right when he said this morning that sport is the real...
- Seanad: Proposed Stadium at Lansdowne Road: Statements. (5 Feb 2004)
Geraldine Feeney: I bow to two superior judgments and I thank Senator Phelan. Usually I try to speak across him when he interrupts, but I knew something good was coming and I was prepared to listen. Not alone is Blackrock College playing Gaelic football, but the school has a history of playing hurling. My son played on the school's soccer team in 2000. I agree with many of Senator Ryan's sentiments. He spoke...
