Paul Coghlan: I welcome the Minister to the House and thank him for listening to the debate on this important subject. I move amendment No. 1: To delete all words after "Seanad Éireann" and substitute the following: "∙condemns the Government for the imposition of a plethora of stealth taxes; ∙notes that Ireland is now one of the most expensive countries in the European Union; ∙regrets that Dublin is...

Seanad: Order of Business. (21 Jun 2005)

Paul Coghlan: Killarney House and its environs form an integral part of Killarney National Park and are its nearest aspect to Killarney town being virtually in it. In fact, the house and its environs back onto one of the town's streets. Paul Coghlan: I support the call made by Senator Finucane and others regarding our farming community. As has been stated by many speakers, including Senator Dardis, those of us who attended the meetings yesterday took up what was said at them. Perhaps a debate could be arranged on the matter after the National Economic and Social Forum child care document is published. I have previously raised the issue of the cost of company law compliance statements for...

Seanad: Order of Business. (14 Jun 2005)

Paul Coghlan: An Daingean or Dingle. I am all for bilingualism and the promotion of the Irish language. However, if democracy means anything, people's opinions must count. There was no consultation on this issue, and there must be consultation. Outside Gaeltacht areas, placenames should be bilingual, for example, Dingle and An Daingean.
