Dara Calleary: I think the Taoiseach defined and christened the then Minister for Finance as Scrooge because he was not spending enough money. The 2007 general election was characterised by the now Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources planning to spend so much money like a child on Christmas morning. There was no notion of fiscal responsibility or discipline in advance of that election.
