Kieran O'Donnell: I will ask a final question of the three airport representatives. Do they know the precise level of funding each will get from the additional €6 million? Have they been told by the Department and do they regard it as adequate funding? Are they in a position to state the amounts they will receive? I will start with Mr. Mulherin, then go to Mr. Gilmore and Mr. Ó Cúláin.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Issues Affecting the Aviation Sector: Discussion (Resumed) (11 Nov 2020)
Kieran O'Donnell: I will conclude with a couple of points. The PCR test that has been proposed, especially concerning people travelling from orange and red countries, should not make travel prohibitive. Mr. Mulhern stated that the cost in Kerry would be approximately €80 per person, but Mr. Gilmore stated that the quote Knock had received was for €149.50 per person. There appears to be a...
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Drug and Alcohol Testing (10 Nov 2020)
Kieran O'Donnell: Unfortunately, this issue is becoming more prevalent. It was raised at joint policing committee, JPC, briefings by Garda Superintendent Gerard Roche in the Limerick city division. He stated that, aside from what people would traditionally know as drink-driving, there had been an increase in the phenomenon known as drug-driving. He has requested more testing equipment. Currently, the...
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Drug and Alcohol Testing (10 Nov 2020)
Kieran O'Donnell: I thank the Minister. She stated that the national figures had shown an increase of 106% in the first six months of the year. That correlates with the 128% increase in the Limerick Garda district across the first nine months of the year. It is a serious issue. The Minister also mentioned that there had been a reduction in traffic levels due to Covid. One can only imagine what the...
- Finance Bill 2020: Second Stage (Resumed) (5 Nov 2020)
Kieran O'Donnell: I am pleased to contribute to this debate. The Finance Bill is always introduced after the budget and is a key component of the budgetary process. This year's budget is akin to a wartime budget. The deadly Covid virus has had a huge impact on how the economy functions and how people go about their daily lives. Its impact on businesses and on people trying to do their jobs has been...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Community Development Initiatives (5 Nov 2020)
Kieran O'Donnell: There is nothing stopping people from multiple Departments going to the same building if the broadband connection is good. Remote working is great and co-working is the key. I will finish on this point. All politics are local. Murroe is in my constituency. It is the home of Glenstal Abbey. Murroe has the Muintir na Tíre Hall, which was founded by Canon John Hayes, who promoted...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Community Development Initiatives (5 Nov 2020)
Kieran O'Donnell: 5. To ask the Minister for Rural and Community Development the steps she will take to encourage and promote remote working; if additional funding was secured as part of budget 2021 to support this work; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [34024/20]
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Community Development Initiatives (5 Nov 2020)
Kieran O'Donnell: Remote working has very much come to the fore because of Covid-19. It was always very much in consideration but it now needs to be accelerated, particularly in rural areas. What steps has the Minister taken to encourage remote working? What additional funding has she secured as part of the budget to support this work so rural community centres and even urban community centres that can be...
