Private Members' Business. European Stability Mechanism: Motion (21 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: We see that in their language here today. Deputy Ó Caoláin speaks of hearing no evil, speaking no evil and seeing no evil. Yet the Sinn Féin Party can never hear any good, speak any truth or see any hope.

Private Members' Business. European Stability Mechanism: Motion (21 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: That is what the rest of us can deliver on. In respect of the motion, the key message we will have over the next couple of months is truth, which is what people will get from this side of the House. Even before a date has been set for the referendum, we are already seeing more misinformation coming from Sinn Féin. When all the arguments and facts have been fully aired and debated, we...

Written Answers — Sale of State Assets: Sale of State Assets (15 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: Question 53: To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, with respect to sale of State assets, the process being taken to establish potential buyers; if a database is being established to identify the bona fides and access to capital of firms or individuals; if the State is endeavouring to get the maximum value of these assets in view of the current market conditions; and if he...

Clotting Factor Concentrates and Other Biological Products Bill 2012: Second Stage (14 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: I welcome the opportunity to contribute on the Clotting Factor Concentrates and Other Biological Products Bill 2012. I acknowledge the presence of the Minister of State, Deputy Shortall, and compliment the Minister, Deputy Reilly, on the outline he provided. The Bill's purpose is to transfer responsibility for the procurement of the national stock of clotting factor concentrate products,...

Dara Murphy: I wish to share my time with Deputies John Paul Phelan, Joe O'Reilly and Peter Mathews.

Euro Area Loan Facility (Amendment) Bill 2012: Second Stage (Resumed) (7 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: I welcome the opportunity to speak on this debate and to show solidarity with our European partners and the people of Greece. It is ironic, and worth noting by the members of the Fine Gael Party who are here - since there is nobody else in the House - that although there has been much criticism of the German parliamentary committees' discussions of matters to do with Ireland, we now have the...

Euro Area Loan Facility (Amendment) Bill 2012: Second Stage (Resumed) (7 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: Excellent. With the Greek write-down of debt, its debt-to-GDP ratio will come close to Ireland's in the next few years. It is extremely important, however, to note that our projected debt-to-GDP ratio of 119% by 2013 represents a maximum figure which has been achieved by working through our programme. There is significant potential for reduction of that figure.

European Council: Statements (Resumed) (7 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: Will the Deputy then support the treaty?

European Council: Statements (Resumed) (7 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: As they are not in a programme, they differ from Ireland or Greece.

Written Answers — Planning Issues: Planning Issues (6 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: Question 374: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government with regard to An Bord Pleanála and planning, after a planning application has been refused by a local authority, whether the four weeks allowed to make an appeal by the applicant to An Bord Pleanála is a law or simply a guideline; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12828/12]

Written Answers — Road Safety: Road Safety (6 Mar 2012)

[12795/12]

Written Answers — Social and Affordable Housing: Social and Affordable Housing (1 Mar 2012)

Dara Murphy: Question 152: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the discretion he has to allow local authorities to change guidelines for the affordable housing scheme allowing the council to temporarily rent out their homes with reference to the clawback that applies for a period of 20 years from the date of purchase, subject to the reduction provided between years ten...

State Assets: Motion (Resumed) (29 Feb 2012)

Dara Murphy: I welcome the opportunity to speak in this debate. If it is any indication of what we will get in the coming weeks on the stability treaty, on which we will be voting, it is fair to say that an enormous amount of misinformation and tripe will be spoken. For example, we heard it tonight concerning Coillte. It is clear that 7% of Coillte's land will not be sold but that it will comprise...

Education (Amendment) Bill 2012 [Seanad]: Second Stage (29 Feb 2012)

Dara Murphy: I wish to share my time with Deputy Brian Walsh. I welcome the opportunity to speak on the Education (Amendment) Bill 2012, which is broadly supported and perhaps not as contentious as other issues we have been debating. I welcome that the changes are designed to provide legal certainty in regard to the capacity of the Minister for Education and Skills and the Minister for Public Expenditure...

European Council: Statements (Resumed) (29 Feb 2012)

Dara Murphy: My Opposition colleague from the north side of Cork City spoke about this being a debate on ordinary Irish citizens, some of our people emigrating and the gamblers, speculators and profligate Governments we have had in the past. I agree with him. This is a treaty that will protect Irish citizens. It will build a country that will allow Irish people to come back from abroad and find jobs,...

Legal Services Regulation Bill 2011: Second Stage (Resumed) (23 Feb 2012)

Dara Murphy: I welcome the opportunity to speak on this Bill. I compliment the Minister on his attendance throughout this debate, if one can call it a debate. It must be pointed out that for almost two hours no Member from Sinn Féin or Fianna Fáil has been present and no Member from the Technical Group has been present for the past hour and a half. This is unprecedented. Yesterday, when I spoke on...

Legal Services Regulation Bill 2011: Second Stage (Resumed) (23 Feb 2012)

Dara Murphy: Boiled.

Leaders' Questions (23 Feb 2012)

Dara Murphy: The Deputy might put us all on a black list.

Leaders' Questions (23 Feb 2012)
