- Questions on Proposed Legislation (22 Nov 2016)
Anne Rabbitte: Last night a constituent of mine, Mr. Davy Glennon, appeared on the "Claire Byrne Live" show and made a powerful presentation on gambling. In 2013 a commitment was made by the Government to draft legislation to deal with the matter. Some 40 months on I wonder when the Bill will be brought before the House.

- Select Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Adoption (Amendment) Bill 2016: Committee Stage (16 Nov 2016)
Anne Rabbitte: I concur with the two previous speakers. The point is very well made by Deputy Ó Laoghaire. I cannot see where we are keeping the child and child's voice at the centre because they are being overruled by the adoptive parent. Am I correct in saying that? I acknowledge the Minister's statement that this will be dealt with in the adoption (information and tracing) Bill. Could we leave...

- Mental Health Services Funding: Motion [Private Members] (15 Nov 2016)
Anne Rabbitte: My two minutes do not facilitate all that I should say. Mental health in Ireland has many connotations. It is broad-ranging and far-reaching and it crosses every boundary of age, gender and status, and defies adequate coverage by me here this evening. All I can say is I concur with all who have spoken before me. We know we do not have enough funding currently, but I would like to come at...

- Other Questions: Garda Resources (15 Nov 2016)
Anne Rabbitte: Yesterday, I was at the joint policing committee in Galway. The report was very positive, except that domestic violence was up by 16%. In the Galway division, there are 20 Garda stations that do not have immediate access to the computerised system. When are we looking at upgrading the system? Are there plans in the programme for Government or in the future to upgrade all Garda stations in...
- Other Questions: Garda Resources (15 Nov 2016)
Anne Rabbitte: It is very welcome to hear that An Garda Síochána is coming into the twenty-first century in certain aspects by bringing the system onto a mobile phone or whatever mechanism in order that gardaí can record crimes on the spot. I believe that is where we need to be going. Does the Tánaiste have a plan, timeframe or schedule of works on the specific aspect she has documented?

Anne Rabbitte: A number of months ago, I asked the Taoiseach, regarding the programme for Government, what was the schedule for the access inclusion model, AIM, programme. - Public Sector Pay: Motion [Private Members] (8 Nov 2016)
Anne Rabbitte: I shall carry on where my colleague Deputy Calleary left off by stating that the key in respect of this issue is independence. We have to keep the decision independent. When it was in the hands of politicians, the general public had a totally different perception of it. That is why we must keep it totally and utterly independent. I had not planned on speaking in this debate. Having been...
