John Brady: Is there a debit card attached to that account?
- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation and Expenditure of Public Moneys by RTÉ (Resumed): RTÉ (13 Jul 2023)
John Brady: Okay. Have we asked a question as to whether there was one?
- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation and Expenditure of Public Moneys by RTÉ (Resumed): RTÉ (13 Jul 2023)
John Brady: That will be important to establish how those transactions were made, such as whether they were done through an electronic fund transfer or whether a debit card was attached to that. If they could confirm that and come back to us, it would be really useful. I want to look to the future a little bit. The critical piece here is trying to establish the facts. I am not sure if we are any...

John Brady: Okay. I am just conscious of time here.
- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation and Expenditure of Public Moneys by RTÉ (Resumed): RTÉ (13 Jul 2023)
John Brady: Is it the case that that is an open piece of work? Is it ongoing?
- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation and Expenditure of Public Moneys by RTÉ (Resumed): RTÉ (13 Jul 2023)
John Brady: There has been a lot of backwards and forwards here. There has been finger pointing and "he said, she said" in terms of the evidence that was provided by Ryan Tubridy and Mr. Kelly and this is the case for the information we are getting here as well. From my perspective, it would be very useful to have everyone in the room at the same time. Is that something you would be open to in a...

- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation and Expenditure of Public Moneys by RTÉ (Resumed): RTÉ (13 Jul 2023)
John Brady: Absolutely. I will conclude with this comment and pick up on the point that Deputy Munster made earlier, which is that mistakes were made, mistakes were allowed to happen, and not in silos. It is important that people are not sidelined and they are not allowed to walk off into the sunset with golden handshakes. There has to be recourse.
- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation and Expenditure of Public Moneys by RTÉ (Resumed): RTÉ (13 Jul 2023)
John Brady: There has to be accountability. Golden handshakes should not be allowed to be part of that exit strategy.
- Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation and Expenditure of Public Moneys by RTÉ (Resumed): RTÉ (13 Jul 2023)
John Brady: Okay. I refer to the testimony given by the ex-chief financial officer, Ms O'Keeffe, where she said there was major kickback from RTÉ in terms of avoiding the guarantee. She was very strong on that up until the end of March 2020. I think that view was shared by the current chief financial officer, Mr. Collins, that there was no desire and there was absolute kickback in relation to...
- Public Accounts Committee: RTÉ Commercial Arrangements: Mr. Ryan Tubridy and Mr. Noel Kelly (11 Jul 2023)
John Brady: I welcome our witnesses. Hopefully, this meeting will go some way towards getting transparency, which has been missing until this point. I want to establish a clear timeline as to who knew what and when. We know that on 3 March, Mr. Tubridy had stated, when questioned about his ongoing position with “The Late Late Show” and whether he would continue or not: I don’t...
- Public Accounts Committee: RTÉ Commercial Arrangements: Mr. Ryan Tubridy and Mr. Noel Kelly (11 Jul 2023)
John Brady: There is no need to. That is accurate for 3 March. On 7 March, we know from questioning that Deloitte first contacted Richard Collins, the chief financial officer. That has been established and it is not disputed. We know Mr. Collins on 8 March contacted Dee Forbes to get to the bottom of the nature of those two invoices that we know had been issued, and that is not up for dispute. It...
