- Seanad: An Bille um an Dara Leasú is Tríocha ar an mBunreacht (Deireadh a Chur le Seanad Éireann) 2013: An Dara Céim (Atógáil) - Thirty-second Amendment of the Constitution (Abolition of Seanad Éireann) Bill 2013: Second Stage (Resumed) (27 Jun 2013)
David Norris: The Senator is a drug dealer. It is a legal drug but alcohol is a significant drug.

David Norris: I know. There is nothing wrong with it, but it is a drug.

David Norris: I shivered when I saw this lamentable Bill in print. There should have been two Bills and it was dishonest for there not to be. This Bill does one thing very specifically and clearly. It is not a Bill to facilitate the holding of a referendum; no decent person could vote against a Bill that facilitated the holding of a referendum. This Bill purports to extinguish the Seanad. For that...

David Norris: Ten reports were published and a previous Government even had a referendum passed, yet successive Governments did sweet bugger all about them for 70 years. Senators elected to the university seats demanded reform and asked what we could do. We cannot take over the Government and force it to act. Every single Government and party corrupted this House but still this brave little ship, with...

David Norris: Then he should not do so.

David Norris: I cannot believe the unspeakable dishonesty of this speech. He is going to look at the Presidency and reduce the number of Members of the Oireachtas required to nominate a Presidential candidate to 14. Will he listen to the voice of the people, this wonderful democrat, this absolute democrat who would not recognise democracy if it came up and puked in his face? Despite all the manoeuvring,...
- Seanad: Order of Business (27 Jun 2013)
David Norris: Hear, hear.
- Seanad: Order of Business (27 Jun 2013)
David Norris: First among equals, not leader.
- Seanad: Order of Business (27 Jun 2013)
David Norris: I thank the Cathaoirleach and everyone else for their kind comments. I hope you will all forgive me for getting well. I feel so much better and I am enjoying life so much. It is a pleasure to be here. I hope no one will think it is a fraud perpetrated for the sake of gaining popularity. It is not. I feel great and thank everyone for their good wishes, which are slightly embarrassing. ...

David Norris: For which I am very grateful.
- Seanad: Order of Business (27 Jun 2013)

- Seanad: Order of Business (27 Jun 2013)
David Norris: Disgusting and sanctimonious.
- Seanad: Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2013: Second Stage (30 May 2013)
David Norris: The vote will not be unanimous on these benches.
- Seanad: Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2013: Second Stage (30 May 2013)
David Norris: Bring them back.
- Seanad: Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2013: Second Stage (30 May 2013)
David Norris: I strongly oppose the Bill. It is appalling, it is anti-democratic, anti-union and anti-worker. The Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill is a misnomer. The first of these Bills was produced about five years ago. Do our emergencies last five years like the so-called "Emergency" we went through during what everybody else thought was World War II. This is a chronic situation.
- Seanad: Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2013: Second Stage (30 May 2013)
David Norris: It is not actually an emergency at all. It is a chronic situation brought about by austerity and most international financial thinkers agree this is the situation. I come from a background where I actually voted against the bank guarantee. I also voted against benchmarking because I could see where it would lead but, on the other hand, of course I took the money when it came in so I am not...
- Seanad: Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2013: Second Stage (30 May 2013)
David Norris: It is giving the Minister power to tear up a contract.
- Seanad: Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2013: Second Stage (30 May 2013)
David Norris: Senator John Gilroy interrupted everyone else.
- Seanad: Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill 2013: Committee and Remaining Stages (30 May 2013)
David Norris: The Bill is misnamed because, as I tried to point out on Second Stage, an emergency is something that happens swiftly and does not recur. Therefore, the entire Bill is fudged. I would like to put on record something I said to the Minister following the suspension. I watched his contribution in my office and he made a strong speech. I would like my compliments to remain on the record...
