- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Fisheries and Maritime Affairs: Island Fisheries Issues: Irish Islands Marine Resource Organisation (7 Oct 2025)
Pádraig Mac Lochlainn: My final question is on the Island Fisheries (Heritage Licence) Bill, which has long been delayed. - Joint Oireachtas Committee on Fisheries and Maritime Affairs: Island Fisheries Issues: Irish Islands Marine Resource Organisation (7 Oct 2025)
Pádraig Mac Lochlainn: There are a couple of areas I want to deal with. The first is the issue of producer organisation funding. There appears to be two-tier funding of producer organisations here. The newly formed producer organisations, which include the IIMRO and the National Inshore Fishermens Association, NIFA, have been excluded from funding. Will the witnesses speak to that and what needs to be done?

However, hundreds of human rights activists, including 22 Irish citizens, one of whom, Senator Chris Andrews, is a Member of the Houses, are heading to Gaza right now. There is every possibility of intervention from the Israeli State. This has concerned many Governments, which have sent their naval vessels to the area.
