Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Primary Care Centres (1 May 2024)

Éamon Ó Cuív: A Leas-Cheann Comhairle, ba mhaith liom buíochas a ghlacadh leis an Aire Stáit as teacht ar maidin ach caithfidh mé a rá anseo ar thaifead an Tí go raibh orm cur ina luí ar oifig an Chinn Comhairle maidir le Buan-Ordú 31 i ndáil le hAire as an réimse a fháil. I thank the Minister of State for coming in here today. I put it on the record of...

Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Pleanáil Teanga Lasmuigh den Ghaeltacht: Plé (1 May 2024)

Éamon Ó Cuív: Bhí mé ag éisteacht leis an gcuid is mó den mhéid a bhí le rá ó thuas staighre. Táim le díriú ar cheist amháin, ceist na líonraí agus céard a bhí i gceist leo. Má bhreathnaímid ar an teanga, is é an dúshlán atá againn ná múineadh na teanga sna scoileanna ar fad....

Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Pleanáil Teanga Lasmuigh den Ghaeltacht: Plé (1 May 2024)

Éamon Ó Cuív: An bhfuil stádas líonra ag an ngrúpa?

Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Pleanáil Teanga Lasmuigh den Ghaeltacht: Plé (1 May 2024)

Éamon Ó Cuív: An smaoineamh a bhí ann ná nach bhféadfaí stádas a thabhairt go ndéarfadh an Roinn. Ní bheadh na rudaí seo agat ach go gcaithfí iad a thabhairt duit. Má bhí ceantar sách maith le stádas líonra a fháil, ba cheart, ipso facto, mar pholasaí Rialtais, go mbeadh an scoil curtha ar fáil d'aon áit mar sin.

Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Pleanáil Teanga Lasmuigh den Ghaeltacht: Plé (1 May 2024)

Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Pleanáil Teanga Lasmuigh den Ghaeltacht: Plé (1 May 2024)

Éamon Ó Cuív: An pointe atá agamsa ná go bhfuil an-luach ar Chorn Sam Mhic Uidhir a thabhairt abhaile. Cén fáth go bhfuil sé deacair é a dhéanamh? Má shroicheann tú barr an chnoic, is mór is fiú é. An rud a bhí i gceist leis na líonraí ná go mbeadh pobail láidir ann a chuirfeadh an Ghaeilge ar aghaidh ó ghlúin...

Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Pleanáil Teanga Lasmuigh den Ghaeltacht: Plé (1 May 2024)

Éamon Ó Cuív: Pointe amháin deiridh. Bhí píosa eile ag baint le seo ar fad agus cuireadh ar lár é. Is fadhb do chuile Aire í go bhfeidhmíonn na Ranna Rialtais ar nós nach bhfuil aon bhaint acu lena chéile. Tuigeann chuile duine atá sa Rialtas é sin. Is minic mar Aire go mbíodh orm dhá nó trí Roinn a thabhairt isteach agus...

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (30 Apr 2024)

Éamon Ó Cuív: As the Taoiseach knows, housing is the big issue. While I welcome all the steps taken in relation to An Bord Pleanála, I note that only 11% of appeals were decided within the 18-week statutory objective. Is there anything further we can do collectively, that the Government can do or that anybody can do, to hurry up the board? It is holding up projects around the country for years.
