- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (12 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: We have been doing this for years. It is interesting to look back to 2008 and 2009, when Fine Gael vigorously criticised Fianna Fáil for wasting money, describing the Health Service Executive as a bureaucratic monster that eats money. It rightly accused Fianna Fáil of cancelling services rather than cutting waste. Fine Gael was going to do things differently.

- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (12 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: I hope I will be allowed another minute for that. It is about where accountability stops and how many times somebody must be made accountable. The Minister for Health, Deputy Harris, has apologised for not giving a fuller account in a parliamentary reply but this is not the first time he has had to apologise. He is a serial apologiser. We have had the CervicalCheck scandal, the treatment...

- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (12 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: This could not be made up. Do the Senators not feel they are being taken for fools?

- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (12 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: Do the Senators not know they are being taken as fools by the people to my right?
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (12 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: That is not true.
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (6 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: I echo the phrase "put up or shut up". The blatant incompetence, unaccountability and recklessness exposed by the national children's hospital debacle merely displays the inability of the Government, carried by Fianna Fáil, to provide the necessary governance and oversight to deliver infrastructure projects such as this one. Now we have the familiar cover-up and defending of the...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (6 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: Once again, we can just pull half a million euro out of the hat for PwC to examine where it all went wrong. How does the Government think such people feel when they witness such scandalous waste? I can tell the Leader they are enraged beyond words. Will he arrange for both Ministers to come into the House to answer questions on this matter?
- Seanad: Community and Rural Support Schemes: Statements (6 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: I welcome the Minister of State. This is a very important session. I commend and thank all of the volunteers connected with all of these schemes, which the Minister of State has outlined, and all the workers and participants on the schemes. They make a huge and valuable contribution to communities all over the country. I want to make a few points on community development. I welcome every...

Rose Conway Walsh: I send solidarity and our warm best wishes to the nurses-----
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (5 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: -----out in the cold and the rain. It is scandalous that these nurses have to be out there rather than doing what they are trained to do. I look forward to joining them in the next couple of days. I also wish to speak about the national children's hospital and the overrun there. It is not just about the national children's hospital. People are so angry because we have had it all before....
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach (5 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: I thank the Minister for his opening statement. First, how much are we losing per day with the nurses not working, the consultants idle and theatres lying idle because the nurses are not there? Deputy Donohoe would know as Minister for Finance.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach (5 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: The Minister said he is responsible for financial consequences. It is hugely important to all of us that we know the financial consequences of each day the nurses are out on strike because we are going to end up paying for those consequences.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach (5 Feb 2019)
Rose Conway Walsh: I find it surprising that the Minister does not have the figure off the top of his head. The Minister talked about the public service stability agreement. Clause 3 of that agreement allows for Government action for specific purposes. There is a recruitment and retention crisis within the health service. Does this clause not allow the Minister to sit down with the nurses and at least...
