Matt Carthy: To give us a sense of this scheme, which appears to have been a success in that it is almost fully utilised in terms of drawdown and participants seem to have had a very good record of paying back, why fix something that is not broken? Why not reinvest the money that has been paid back into a similar type of loan scheme?

Matt Carthy: Looking through those different types of schemes, there are different types of farms in Ireland, as the witnesses know, and one that is in a particularly perilous situation would be what are broadly described as family farmers as opposed to corporate entities. - Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Eradication of Bovine Tuberculosis: Discussion (9 Mar 2021)
Matt Carthy: I thank the Chairman and all our guests for being here this evening. This is a timely and important debate. - Housing Shared Equity Loan Scheme: Motion [Private Members] (3 Mar 2021)
Matt Carthy: The solution to the housing crisis is to build houses. That might sound simplistic but it is the essence of what is required. The decisions of previous Fianna Fáil Governments to effectively stop building council houses is essentially the source of the situation that has resulted in the reality wherein most Irish people aged under 30 years watching this debate will probably never own...
