Deputy Thomas Byrne said on radio that a transition year student would know from a cursory look that this is totally unconstitutional. How did this get into five newspapers today? I seldom agree with Deputy Boyd Barrett but as he suggested, is the Government really trying to turn the people off supporting it?...

Mattie McGrath: It is. The programme for Government contains a commitment to fund health care. This is a wonderful community facility which needs more space. The Health Information and Quality Agency, HIQA, is demanding improvements at the hospital. The project must be progressed to meet HIQA standards. We need action from the Government in that regard.
