Agency Workers: Motion (Resumed) (20 Feb 2008)

Conor Lenihan: I am thankful for the opportunity to speak here and contribute to this debate. It is important to mention some facts about integration. The number of non-Irish people living here stands at 10% of the population according to the official census...

Seanad: Northern Ireland Issues: Statements (Resumed) (20 Feb 2008)

Conor Lenihan: I have been listening to the speakers. It is rude of the Senator to make assumptions about somebody in the Chamber.

Immigration, Residence and Protection Bill 2008: Second Stage (Resumed) (14 Feb 2008)

Conor Lenihan: It is a matter for gardaí to enforce as they see fit in an operational sense and they do it in a sensible and sensitive manner. There is already a requirement for migrants to produce a card, so the provision of this Bill makes that card a biometric card.

Immigration, Residence and Protection Bill 2008: Second Stage (Resumed) (14 Feb 2008)

The Bill gives no additional power on this, only increases the identification to include biometric information.

Tribunals of Inquiry: Motion (Resumed) (31 Jan 2008)

Conor Lenihan: I must say, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, that Fine Gael Members are behaving in a bitter and misguided way in this debate.

Tribunals of Inquiry: Motion (Resumed) (31 Jan 2008)

Conor Lenihan: In particular, this morning Deputy Phil Hogan tried to make an issue of the fact that Mr. Norman Turner, a gentleman who is not a Member of this House, obtained an Irish passport through the constituency office of the Taoiseach, Deputy Bertie Ahern.
