- Disclosures Tribunal: Motion [Private Members] (29 Nov 2017)
Peadar Tóibín: The State created a falsehood around Maurice McCabe. That falsehood was that he was a paedophile. Furthermore, elements of the State sought to base an entire legal strategy around this falsehood. They codified a lie as a legal strategy to destroy a man who was asking honourable and decent questions. The manner in which they did so was calculated and cold. We are faced with the reality...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs: Business of Joint Committee (29 Nov 2017)
Peadar Tóibín: This committee was to start at 1.30 p.m. What happens is one must put the committee ar athló. It must be postponed for a period. Nobody turned up for a quarter of an hour at all. I realise everybody is working flat-out but it is embarrassing for the committee to a certain extent when witnesses arrive and they have to wait. We were very close to the meeting being called off today and...

Peadar Tóibín: A Theachta Healy-Rae, I have to ask, as we are in public session and the great people of Ireland are watching us, that all members turn off their phones because at every meeting it creates problems with the broadcasting equipment. Everybody has received all the documents that are necessary for this meeting already. It is on their databases currently. I trust everybody has those. Today...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs: Heritage Bill 2016: Discussion (29 Nov 2017)
Peadar Tóibín: There are major problems in the farming sector at the moment. The average wage within farming is about half what it is in the industrial sector. Currently about a third of farmers in this State are independently economically viable and much more needs to be done to ensure farming is helped to become more economically viable. I am of the view that it is the price side of the business that...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs: Heritage Bill 2016: Discussion (29 Nov 2017)
Peadar Tóibín: From the information we have heard, it seems nobody is happy with the processes. Perhaps we need to start evaluating the whole process from the start because even if the burning season were extended by one month, the difficulties regarding timing and the notification of numerous organisations would still arise. Burning is a dangerous activity and one that must be controlled.
