Aisling Dolan: I appreciate that the staff are doing everything. Mr. Philips said he is working with unions to develop a more attractive package and get people in. Training is, of course, taking time. It was mentioned that of 100 staff, 40 are being trained. Within the next two or three weeks, will there be a lot more staff in place?

Many points were raised, one of which was that it is becoming more difficult and challenging for people to get onto the schemes. This is something that has to be raised. We have...

Aisling Dolan: I welcome the school groups, in particular the group from County Longford. I know Senator Carrigy's wife, Úna. The latter group has a link to Ballinasloe as Úna Boland is from the town of Ballinasloe. We must give all of the children a big wave because we need them to come here. They will be here in a few years' time. Do they know that women only make up 40% of Senators? We...

It was hosted by Mr. Stephen Canavan, who is the new IFA county chair for Galway. Now that things are opening up again, we are getting an opportunity to meet people again. We very much had an opportunity to understand the concerns of farmers at that meeting. The high costs are...

Aisling Dolan: Cork is a large county and Galway is second-largest county. There are many colleges of further education and different towns, so it would reduce transport costs for students if we could deliver some of that theory in different locations. I could imagine in locations such as Skibbereen in west Cork there may be a place where the ETBs could look to deliver education to apprentices.

Aisling Dolan: I thank the Cathaoirleach. I thank the Minister for his time here, and with his team as well. I note that the goal of that €307 million will be to reduce our lecturer-student ratios and to make sure that the universities can compete at a world-class level. We have such excellent talent but it has to be acknowledged the numbers that are attending third level now are up to 240,000...
