Seanad: Order of Business (4 Feb 2014)

David Norris: I have already asked it and will continue asking it. They are self-appointed and are answerable to nobody. They have consistently misrepresented scientific papers and been rebuked by the authors of those papers. They did that at the Constitutional Convention, of which I am a member. It is amazing to me that they are allowed to bully people.

Seanad: Order of Business (4 Feb 2014)

David Norris: It is very relevant. I have asked the question and I prefer not to be interrupted. I take this issue extremely seriously. I sat in this Chamber and listened to colleagues on these benches tabling motions that were effectively apartheid in nature. Had I been a Roman Catholic, a black person or a Jew and anything remotely like that was attempted, the person would have been fired out of this...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Review of Foreign Affairs Policy and External Relations: Discussion (Resumed) (16 Jan 2014)

David Norris: I congratulate Mr. Butler on his presentation. The fact he has received such support from the Danish embassy to this country is very instructive, as is the fact that a senior member of the diplomatic staff of that embassy was here with him until very recently. I have not had an opportunity to read the extended version of the paper but I did read the abbreviated version. Mr. Butler refers...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Review of Foreign Affairs Policy and External Relations: Discussion (Resumed) (16 Jan 2014)

David Norris: It is utterly true.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Review of Foreign Affairs Policy and External Relations: Discussion (Resumed) (16 Jan 2014)

David Norris: There is an enormous amount of EU legislation and it is squirted out at a rate which could lead to it being classified as pollution. Some of it is completely mad. I do not like English newspapers - I do not like those in Ireland very much these days either - but at least some of them got it right when they laughed at square sausages, round bananas and similar drivel. We have had experience...

David Norris: And in the Department.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Review of Foreign Affairs Policy and External Relations: Discussion (Resumed) (16 Jan 2014)

David Norris: I welcome Mr. Staunton and I congratulate him on his very clear, very lucid and hard-hitting critique. It is a critique and that is very welcome. It is not a lot of blather, and I welcome the fact that The Irish Timescontinues to sustain a network of international correspondents around the globe. It has thinned down a bit over the past while, but it is very welcome and I would like Mr....

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Review of Foreign Affairs Policy and External Relations: Discussion (Resumed) (16 Jan 2014)

David Norris: That would be absolutely splendid. The next thing is the observation that people thought they were going into the machine age and that everything would be done by twiddleometers, as it were, and other things. I am delighted Mr. Staunton indicated that human contact is vital. We are losing it all over the place. We are losing it in our banks. They do not want people; they want machines...
