- Written Answers — Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport: Noise Pollution (17 May 2017)
Shane Ross: I understand the Deputy is referring to the Community Liaison Group. As the Deputy is aware, I have already met a range of groups in relation to the North Runway Project. This has included representatives of St. Margaret's. I have no difficulty in meeting with this specific group. However, given the on-going legal proceedings, the Deputy will appreciate that...

Shane Ross: Under the Fresh Start Agreement, the Northern Ireland Executive and the Government agreed to undertake a review of the proposed Narrow Water Bridge project with a view to identifying options for its future development, for consideration by the North South Ministerial Council (NSMC). As part of the ongoing work by both administrations on the options review, a series...
- Written Answers — Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport: Departmental Expenditure (17 May 2017)
Shane Ross: I propose to take Questions Nos. 273 and 274 together. The Office of Public Works is responsible for the procurement of office (and other) accommodation required for the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and accordingly the rental of car parking space is a matter for that Office. The position regarding the bodies and agencies under the remit of this Department is a matter...

I have therefore referred your question to the NTA for direct reply to you. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within 10 working...
- Seanad: Commencement Matters: Sports Facilities Provision (16 May 2017)
Shane Ross: I thank the Senator for raising this very important matter. I will certainly try to address those two specific questions in a few minutes, probably in the second part of my reply, after he has responded to what I have to say. In respect of securing lands required for the sports facilities set out in the Lusk 2020 sports plan, as the Senator knows and has acknowledged, this is obviously...
- Seanad: Commencement Matters: Sports Facilities Provision (16 May 2017)
Shane Ross: The case being made by the Senator is very powerful and compelling. He knows that it will be considered on its merits, which are great. I will not make any specific promises. It would be inappropriate for me to do so because, as the Senator knows, there is huge competition for this type of funding. The Lusk 2020 plan for a sports hub and development is in accordance with the principles of...
- Seanad: Commencement Matters: Public Transport Provision (16 May 2017)
Shane Ross: I thank Senator Craughwell for raising this important matter, particularly in respect of Cork city and county, and for the opportunity to address the House on the issue. As the Senator pointed out, funding of €3.6 billion has been allocated for public transport in the Government's capital plan. The funding for the transport elements of the plan is for a seven-year period from 2016 to...
- Seanad: Commencement Matters: Public Transport Provision (16 May 2017)
Shane Ross: I understand the frustration that some people outside Dublin feel. The view is that maybe the Dublin area gets undue attention and some believe it gets disproportionate funds. While I do not think that is the case, I can understand why some hold that view. When high-profile projects like Luas cross-city and others come along - the metro north project probably will not be coming along for...

An applicant in the circumstances described by the Deputy would therefore be able to apply to renew their driving licence in the normal way. As with all applications from persons aged 70 and over, the application would have to be accompanied by an eyesight report and a medical fitness report.
- Written Answers — Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport: Driver Licences (16 May 2017)
Shane Ross: I take it that the Deputy is referring to the fact that, if an application for a driving licence is not complete and in order, it has to be resubmitted. This is normal practice for many kinds of application, and I have no plans to change it in this case. Any specific queries in this regard should be sent to the Road Safety Authority who have statutory responsibility for the driver...
