Phil Hogan: People will have ample opportunity to de-sludge and to service septic tanks if they want to do so in advance of inspection. No figures have been compiled by the Department in respect of compliance. Perhaps Senator Ó Domhnaill is doing so on behalf of the State. Cavan is the only county we can use and in the early years of inspection, the failure rate was 25% but the rate is now 11%.
