David Norris: I also wish to commend Uachtaráin na hÉireann on his visit to Britain. I pay particular tribute to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, with regard to the role she has played in this matter. The Queen has strong Irish roots, being a direct descendant of both Brian Boru and the rebel Earl of Tyrone, Hugh O'Neill. Her mother always personally presented shamrock to the members of the...
- Seanad: Order of Business (3 Apr 2014)
David Norris: I second Senator Feargal Quinn's amendment to the Order of Business. This important Bill deals with the issue of carbon monoxide and I assume the reference to dwellings also refers to hotels. There have been a number of tragedies in hotels involving the deaths of young people following inhalation of carbon monoxide. I wish to condemn publicly the hate mail and other attacks on our colleague...

David Norris: I congratulate my colleagues, in particular Senator Barrett, for this initiative. It is highly significant and very important and shows the value and reflective nature of this House as well as the Senator's capacity to research and put together such a coherent piece of legislation. If one looks at it, it is bland and artistically illiterate with a little squiggle of a book and the removal of the colours. It is a real insult. The fact that apparently the provost and the board are unaware the title is...

David Norris: What about the Cathaoirleach? Is he opportunistic as well?
- Seanad: Order of Business (1 Apr 2014)
David Norris: I do not intend to expatiate on the current political turmoil. I said my piece in the past two weeks and as far as I am concerned it is one down and one to go. At the risk of being called opportunistic, I extend my sympathy to the family of our colleague Senator John Kelly. I am glad there will be an opportunity to pay tribute to my old friend Sam McAughtry who was a Member of this House....
