Michael Creed: An adult swan taken from the river Barrow which was in a good state of preservation was the subject of a post mortem investigation by Kilkenny Regional Veterinary Laboratory. While findings as to the cause of death were inconclusive, Avian flu and poisoning were investigated and ruled out. There was evidence of parasitism in the swan submitted which may have contributed to death.
