Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Cancer Screening Programmes (29 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: I appreciate the Minister's last comment. I am sure the House agrees that all of the women deserve all of their documentation after five weeks. They also deserve all of the audit review findings. There is one solicitor who is representing many of the women. A total of 90% of the women he represents have not yet received their documentation. After five weeks they deserve it. I will lose...

Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Cancer Screening Programmes (29 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: There are many people watching these proceedings for the Minister's answer on this question. It relates to the National Cancer Screening Service and the management of it, particularly of CervicalCheck. Has the Minister confidence in the way the HSE has handled this? Has he confidence in the current management? Has he confidence in the management who were over CervicalCheck during the...

Alan Kelly: 289. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the actions that have been taken as a result of the 2012 Garda professional standards report Into the Bray district, which found serious failings; when the actions were taken; the person that took the actions; if assurances will be given that the district is not operating in a similar fashion at present; and if he will make a...

To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if there are two different ethics training programmes being conducted internally in An Garda Síochána for rank and file members and management, respectively; his views on whether this is appropriate in view of the apparent void between both that is outlined in the recent Garda Cultural Audit Report; and if he will...

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: I will jump around the place a little bit, and I would appreciate short sharp answers because I have so many questions across a range of issues. My first question is to CIT. How many protected disclosures are there within the college and when was the first?

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: What date was the first one?

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: Earlier this year.

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: So the first was in 2018.

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: No, I am just asking a question. I just want the facts.

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: My next question is more to the HEA than UCC. In some universities accommodation is provided on site for the president. Did the HEA sign off on expenses or costs of funding to provide accommodation for the current president?

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: In fairness, UL has a building on site. I am only trying to get to the facts and I am not making any accusations. Is there a cost to the college of providing accommodation for the president?

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: That will be an ongoing thing.

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: I appreciate that. I just want to get it out as an expenditure cost compared to other colleges, because it would be good to look at other costs across the board. It could be cheaper for all I know, comparatively, for the HEA if we look at all of the universities. That is €36,000 year.

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2016: Higher Education Authority, University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology (24 May 2018)

Alan Kelly: Obviously it is rented somewhere. I genuinely do not want to know because I do not think that would be fair. It is €36,000 per year to pay for rent for the president. To the students and the public that might seem strange, but I think I have set it in the right context. I wish to make a comment to UCC. We received its letter on the Opera House, and I know the Chairman has a...
