Brian Walsh: Had we decided to renege on our debts, the level of support received from our international partners would have been reduced accordingly. I support the Government's amendment, as the motion as presented is populist rhetoric. There should be no place for it in the House, particularly in light of today's successful return to the bond markets, as Deputy Barry mentioned.
