Noel Treacy: I sincerely thank Senators for their wide-ranging and interesting comments on this Bill. Noel Treacy: Is cúis áthais dom bheith ar ais i Seanad Éireann le freastal ar an Bhille tábhachtach seo, an Bille um Banc Forbartha Comhairle na hEorpa 2004. Tá mé ag súil leis an díospóireacht agus an pháirt a ghlacfaidh na Seanadóirí uilig. This Bill provides for Ireland's membership of the Council of Europe Development Bank. The CEB is the oldest international financial institution in...

Irish Emigrants. (16 Nov 2004)

Noel Treacy: Is cúis áthais dom freagra cruinn beacht a thabhairt ar an ábhar tábhachtach seo faoi imircigh — muintir na nGael thar lear. I welcome this opportunity to stress the Government's continuing and strong commitment to Irish people living abroad. Noel Treacy: In line with addressing these industry requirements, IDA Ireland also has a focus in north Cork, on its new business and technology park adjacent to Fermoy. IDA Ireland has purchased this 20 acre site on the outskirts of Fermoy where site development works and landscaping have been completed at a cost of approximately €1.5 million. The IDA intends to seek proposals from private developers...

Noel Treacy: In addition, IDA is also marketing the Fermoy business and technology park as a suitable location for potential green field projects. It is anticipated that future employment opportunities generated at this business and technology park will be of benefit to the north Cork area generally. I assure the Deputy that the State development agencies, under the auspices of the Department of...

Order of Business. (17 Jun 2004)

Noel Treacy: Deputy Rabbitte is anti-regions.

Seanad: Hospital Services. (3 Jun 2004)

Noel Treacy: The Minister for Health and Children is out of the country. Rapid transport could get him to Castlebar but I do not believe that is the case. On his behalf, I am glad of the opportunity afforded by the Senator to discuss Mayo General Hospital. I refer initially to the unprecedented investment in services at the hospital over the past number of years. The Government has invested heavily in the...

Seanad: An Bord Bia (Amendment) Bill 2003 [Seanad Bill amended by the Dáil]: Report and Final Stages. (29 Apr 2004)

Noel Treacy: We certainly have done so and I have been involved in it. There is an outstanding division in the Department of Agriculture and Food which has done an outstanding job at inspectorate, management and administration level. Huge progress has been made and the IFA and farming organisations, particularly the growers, are very pleased with it. We are copperfastening what we are doing in this...

Seanad: An Bord Bia (Amendment) Bill 2003 [Seanad Bill amended by the Dáil]: Report and Final Stages. (29 Apr 2004)

Noel Treacy: I thank the Leader for giving us that flexibility. In response to Senator Burke, the Minister, Deputy Walsh, wrote to the Senator following the last Seanad debate outlining the position in regard to Féile Bia. Féile Bia requires that suppliers must sign up for the product they supply under the Féile Bia logo. It does not suit all suppliers to sign up and, consequently, they will not do so.
