Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Low Pay Commission: Chairperson Designate (14 Apr 2015)

Dara Calleary: I have another question. I am conscious that the deadline for the receipt of submissions was yesterday evening. Does Dr. de Buitléir know yet how many were received?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Community Partnership Mobilisation Programme: ConnectIreland (14 Apr 2015)

Dara Calleary: I welcome Ms Murphy and Mr. Dowling and congratulate them. I commend this initiative. The figure of 2,500 that Ms Murphy gave came as a bit of a shock - a good shock. They are companies with which the IDA had not engaged. What kind of companies were they? Were they 2,500 connectors? That is a huge figure.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Community Partnership Mobilisation Programme: ConnectIreland (14 Apr 2015)

Dara Calleary: Super. As regards the community action plan, as Ms Murphy said, we published a report recently on reviving towns. Can she send us on her own thoughts of how that would fit in to the report? It is something I was not aware of and that is probably my fault. I would be interested to see how that plan is working.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Community Partnership Mobilisation Programme: ConnectIreland (14 Apr 2015)

Dara Calleary: We regularly have discussions at this committee about the IDA not servicing large parts of the country for whatever reason, and ConnectIreland is potentially the alternative for many communities, so we would love to work together on that.

Written Answers — Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Local Enterprise Offices (2 Apr 2015)

Dara Calleary: 92. To ask the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation if he will provide, in tabular form and on a county basis, the total amount of moneys spent by each local enterprise office and-or county enterprise board in 2014 on grants to new start-ups, and on grants to existing small and medium enterprises; the total amount of jobs claimed to have been created; and if he will make a statement...

Residential Mortgage Interest Rates: Motion (Resumed) [Private Members] (1 Apr 2015)

Dara Calleary: I commend Deputy Michael McGrath for raising an issue that is important to mortgage holders and the banking system. If the Minister, Deputy Noonan, who has joined us, told 300,000 people that he would give them back between €992 and €4,000, the benches would be full of cheering backbenchers rushing to the radio talking about the great Government. Yet the benches are empty....

Leaders' Questions (1 Apr 2015)

Dara Calleary: So did Deputy Joan Burton.

Written Answers — Department of Finance: Credit Availability (1 Apr 2015)

To ask the Minister for Finance his views on the European Commission staff working document (2015, 27 final) - Country Report Ireland 2015, which states that lending to Irish businesses declined by 8.1% year-on-year in October 2014 while interest rates for new corporate loans of up to €1 million to small and medium enterprise are higher in Ireland than in most other countries in...

[12090/15]

Written Answers — Department of Justice and Equality: Parental Leave (31 Mar 2015)

Dara Calleary: 368. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality her plans to introduce changes to parental leave rules to allow parental leave be taken for all children up to 18 years of age; her views that parents who have not taken parental leave for children up to 13 years of age should be allowed to take it, while those children are teenagers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13346/15]

Written Answers — Department of Environment, Community and Local Government: Tenant Purchase Scheme Administration (31 Mar 2015)

Dara Calleary: 655. To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government his plans to allow local authorities to re-open the tenant purchase scheme; the reason the scheme has been closed for 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13132/15]

Dara Calleary: 13. To ask the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation if he will provide an update on the implementation of the Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2014; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12094/15]

Other Questions: Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (26 Mar 2015)

Dara Calleary: Will the Minister update the House on the number of staff that are being attached and the division within that staff between the competition side and the consumer protection side of things? There is no doubt that the work on insurance this week was excellent. What will be the follow-up to that work? Who requested more time in respect of the groceries order issue? It is not as if it was...

Other Questions: Research Funding (26 Mar 2015)

Dara Calleary: I asked the Minister earlier to outline the consultation process and who had been invited to participate, but he did not do so. I also think it is significant that the Minister for State, Deputy Damien English, is not here to take this question because he is also attached to the Department of Education and Skills. The fact that the Minister took this question might be proof of what the 900...

Other Questions: Research Funding (26 Mar 2015)

Dara Calleary: Who is involved in it?

Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Industrial Disputes (26 Mar 2015)

Dara Calleary: I wish Dunnes Stores would turn up the volume and listen to the workers. A total of 70% of Dunnes Stores employees are women and 76% of workers are on flexible contracts. Many supermarkets have reached agreement with trade unions on the matter, but Dunnes Stores seem to be unwilling to do so. We have less than a week to go. From listening to the workers the other day it appears there is a...

Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Job Creation (26 Mar 2015)

Dara Calleary: The Government parties are good at it themselves.
