- Joint Committee On Health: Issues Relating to Perinatal Mental Health: Discussion (18 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: I thank the witnesses. After listening to them all speak today, I feel our perinatal services are in very good hands. If only the practitioners could get exactly what they are looking for, we could definitely be one of the leading countries in the world in perinatal services, as Deputy Ward said. I feel our perinatal services are in very safe hands. I thank the witnesses for their passion...
- Seanad Public Consultation Committee: Other Voices on the Constitutional Future of the Island of Ireland: Faith Leaders (14 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: It is wonderful to be here to hear what the witnesses have to say. Their statements have been inspiring. I am very happy and warmly welcome them. I send my condolences to the Rev. Clements on the passing of his mother this week and on the death of his father. The intergenerational trauma of the conflict has been horrific on victims. I have heard down through the years on both sides...
- Seanad Public Consultation Committee: Other Voices on the Constitutional Future of the Island of Ireland: Unionist Community (14 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: I thank the witnesses sincerely for coming in to talk to us and sharing their experiences and expertise. These conversations are 100% vitally important and the presence of the witnesses is vital. It is daunting often for most people to come as witnesses to any parliamentary committee, but to come into one in a different jurisdiction can be quite daunting, so I thank the witnesses for coming...
- Seanad Public Consultation Committee: Other Voices on the Constitutional Future of the Island of Ireland: Unionist Community (14 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: "Wow" is all that I can say because we have had three fantastic presentations. As I was listening to Mr. Marshall, Mr. Graham and Mr. Pollak I was getting a bit emotional. I just want to hear what they have to say as it is very powerful. It is wonderful to hear their voices. Mr. Pollak's presentation was very moving. He spoke about wondering whether Britain or Ireland wanted him. It is...
- Seanad Public Consultation Committee: Other Voices on the Constitutional Future of the Island of Ireland: Unionist Community (14 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: I mean this. I am so disappointed we do not have a unionist voice in the Seanad. Every time I see Mr. Marshall I am nearly crying and asking why he is not here representing the unionist voice because it is so important. There are too few northern voices in here and but especially unionist voices. It is a real missed opportunity that I hope in future can be rectified. I am blown away. I...

- Seanad Public Consultation Committee: Other Voices on the Constitutional Future of the Island of Ireland: Dr. Stephen Farry (14 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: I really appreciate the witnesses coming in today. It is great to see them here. Dr. Farry and I have worked together on the Oireachtas Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement. It is fantastic that he is here today. I am really glad that the whole day has been devoted to hearing from non-nationalist witnesses, and I am particularly glad that we are recognising...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Long Covid and Monkeypox: Discussion (12 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: I thank the witnesses for their presentation. I am sorry for being late to the meeting, which happened because I had some technical problems. I hope my questions do not repeat points that have already been covered. As I am sure the witnesses are aware, news of the monkeypox virus has really triggered fear in a large number of people, many of whom are still trying to overcome the...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Long Covid and Monkeypox: Discussion (12 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: That is good to hear. If there are people listening to this discussion today who suspect or are fearful they might have monkeypox, what advice would the witnesses give them and what would they tell them is the first thing they should do?

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Long Covid and Monkeypox: Discussion (12 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: I thank our guests for coming in. I want to follow on from Deputy Hourigan's question around children. I am aware of a couple of cases. I totally agree with what Deputy Gino Kenny said because I had it is as well and there is exhaustion as well as sickness. If you had that exhaustion for a long time it really impacts you in every way and particularly your mental health. For young people...

Frances Black: Okay.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Long Covid and Monkeypox: Discussion (12 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: Yes. The elderly are a group considered especially vulnerable to this virus and its lasting effects. Given all 14 post-acute and long Covid clinics are located in larger towns and cities, how does the HSE plan to deliver care to those who live in more rural environments?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Long Covid and Monkeypox: Discussion (12 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: Generally, but really older people because they are so vulnerable. It must be awful for them to be living far away and having to travel. That is the concern.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Long Covid and Monkeypox: Discussion (12 Oct 2022)
Frances Black: Okay. Dr. Ní Bhriain mentioned the 14 clinics have already been established. The healthcare service is already really stretched. There is no doubt about it. We see that in a lot of the presentations that come in. Is there any way our guests can ensure the efficiency and longevity of the service?
