- Topical Issue Debate: Rape Crisis Network Funding (29 Jan 2014)
Thomas Pringle: I thank the Ceann Comhairle for accepting this very important matter. A very serious issue has arisen where all of the core funding of the Rape Crisis Network Ireland will be terminated on 31 March 2014. The current responsibility for the funding of €250,000 for the Rape Crisis Network Ireland resides with the new Child and Family Agency. This is a catastrophic situation for victims...

- Health Services: Motion [Private Members] (28 Jan 2014)
Thomas Pringle: If we could prevent the cutbacks in the health services as easily as we prevented the cutting short of this debate, it would be a good turn of events. I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the debate. Deputy Breen referred to the doom and gloom merchants on the Opposition benches. I wonder whether he considers the chief executive of the HSE, Mr. O'Brien, to be a doom and gloom...

Thomas Pringle: In regard to the management plans and the administrative burden in terms of costs and so on, the witnesses did not clarify the current cost of a felling licence and what new costs are anticipated as a result of this legislation. I would welcome if they could elaborate further on those issues. Also, one of the witnesses said that the provision of management plans should be voluntary rather...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Forestry Bill 2013: Discussion (Resumed) (28 Jan 2014)
Thomas Pringle: I thank everybody for their submissions. I have a few questions. What would the IFA witnesses define as sustainable forest management? The felling licences generate a large administrative cost for all parties involved. Would the IFA witnesses or the timber growers have a breakdown of how much felling licences currently cost? What is involved that would be different under this legislation...

Thomas Pringle: Yes, I am sharing time with him. I am unsure how much time I will take at this point. In common with other speakers, I welcome the introduction of this legislation. It is a progressive step to enable the ESB to provide fibre on its networks and in respect of broadband, it probably is one of the most progressive steps that could have been taken by a Government to ensure this would happen....

Thomas Pringle: On the renegotiated contract, in terms of the capacity of the incinerator, is there any obligation on the local authority to provide a set amount of waste? I also asked a question about the cost of dealing with the European Commission complaint and whether it was envisaged it would be ongoing. What is the projected cost?
