Select Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation: Estimates for Public Services 2016
Vote 32 - Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation (Revised)
(21 Jun 2016)

Stephen Donnelly: IDA Ireland's building programme is very good, but it needs to be more ambitious. I would like to see the Minister return to the Dáil to seek more funding. IDA Ireland has targeted third level institutions. In this regard, the Minister listed the institutes in Carlow, Athlone and Waterford. IDA Ireland is building where an institute of technology, university or college is located....

Some of them are good and some of them are not so good, but their focus is start-ups. We have the IDA bringing in business. Enterprise Ireland is working with a certain number of businesses, for example, through the high potential start-up programme. What I do not see in the Vote is funding...

Delivering Sustainable Full Employment: Statements (2 Jun 2016)

Stephen Donnelly: .... Unemployment is now thankfully below 8% and continues to fall, and we continue to lead the world in attracting high-value foreign direct investment, FDI, to Ireland, which is something for which IDA Ireland and the former Minister, Deputy Richard Bruton, deserve great credit. Interestingly, in the first quarter of this year tech firms in Ireland raised €237 million in venture...

Corporation Tax: Motion (Resumed) (23 Mar 2011)

Stephen Donnelly: ...corporate tax rate is recognised as a critical component in attracting high levels of foreign direct investment to Ireland, particularly since the early to mid-1990s. Mr. Padraic White, a former IDA director, said that it became the IDA's most distinctive investment incentive and over time its most single powerful weapon in the international industrial promotion battle. It works. By...
