Niamh Smyth: A rail link would be sensible for the environment as well as for changes in the economy. There will not be an east-west link, according to the Government, and there will not be a motorway to Cavan town. Accordingly, a rail line becomes critical and crucial if we are going to provide any sort of transport for young people who will have to work ultimately in Dublin.
