- Seanad: Order of Business. (11 Oct 2011)
Mark Daly: In his ruling to the House the Cathaoirleach referred to a letter received from one of the parties in respect of the High Court case. I call on the Cathaoirleach to make that letter available to people in this House because it is disturbing that they are trying to gag not only the Cathaoirleach, but everyone else.

Mark Daly: It might be helpful to Members if the Cathaoirleach circulated the rulings on sub judice matters and the naming of people in the House. That would be beneficial to everyone in the House.

Mark Daly: In respect of the Global Economic Forum, will the Leader to ask a junior Minister from the Taoiseach's Department to come to the House and provide a review every four months on the outcomes of the forum and the progress made on the ideas that came out of it in respect of improving the economy, tourism and culture? It was noted that while Micheál Martin and the previous Government came up...
- Seanad: Order of Business. (11 Oct 2011)
Mark Daly: We had the German ambassador in here during the summer and I emphasised to him that if he thinks we will pass a referendum as a result of a diktat from the Reichstag or Bundestag or whatever stag they are having, he is mistaken. The people simply will not pass another EU referendum to help the German and French taxpayers.

- Seanad: Communications, Energy and Natural Resources: Statements, Questions and Answers (5 Oct 2011)
Mark Daly: With the leave of the House, I would like to share my time with Senator Darragh O'Brien. I welcome the Minister to the House. He has made a wide-ranging contribution and it is difficult for him to touch on every issue. I raise a pressing issue for which the Minister's Department is, to some extent, responsible. A 65 year old lady, Ms Teresa Treacy, has been in jail since 13 September. I...
- Seanad: Communications, Energy and Natural Resources: Statements, Questions and Answers (5 Oct 2011)
Mark Daly: I would like to invite him to the House to defend himself. Union leaders are trying to defend the indefensible at a time when the vast majority of people, the 400,000 people unemployed and those in receipt of social welfare benefits, have to pay enormous electricity and gas bills. I accept there have been increases owing to the cost of oil and gas. However, pay is a big issue. I would like...

Mark Daly: It is ironic that my colleague from Kerry should be talking about publicity stunts when that is exactly what the Minister was engaged in yesterday.
- Seanad: Order of Business (5 Oct 2011)
Mark Daly: It is, because the amendment to the Order of Business seeks to have a debate in this House in the presence of the Minister for Health. I support Senator O'Brien in that regard. The Minister has been invited to attend the House time and again but has failed to do so. My question to the Leader is whether the Minister was invited to Blanchardstown yesterday or whether he asked to be invited.
- Seanad: Order of Business (5 Oct 2011)
Mark Daly: I support the amendment.
- Seanad: Order of Business (5 Oct 2011)
Mark Daly: I also support my colleague in regard to the National Asset Management Agency Act and his call for the Minister for Finance to come to the House tomorrow. There is no transparency in NAMA. The sweetheart deals it is doing will eventually come out in the wash but it is the taxpayer who will be at a loss. I support Senator Mullen's call for a debate on the media. Notwithstanding the...
