Matt Carthy: Prior to 2018, I take it that the Veterinary Council was satisfied that the veterinary services provided across Ireland were operating in an effective and efficient manner and were doing what the council needed them to do.

Matt Carthy: Ms Muldoon has mentioned a number of times that the council does not have information on the ownership of practices. She also mentioned that one of the council's roles was to receive confirmation of professional indemnity. To whom does the professional indemnity relate? Does it only relate to individual vets?

Matt Carthy: What about the actual practices in which vets operate? Are those obliged to have professional indemnity?

Matt Carthy: That is the point I am coming to. A number of practices would indicate to the council that, for example, the six vets working in them were all indemnified.
