Peter Burke: I thank the witnesses for attending. Based on an initial review, this would be an unmitigated disaster for Ireland. There can be legitimate arguments about how much tax companies pay and where they pay it, but we must be clear on who sets the rules. The member state has that sovereign right. Peter Burke: An Irish High Court decision that affected Germany's yield under the CCCTB would not be sustainable. It has been mentioned that corporation tax would be ring-fenced. Many companies depend on offsets against VAT and other taxes as a point of cashflow. However, that would not be sustainable under this model because corporation tax would be ring-fenced. Is that correct?

Peter Burke: Mr. Zuijdendorp stated that, under the CCCTB, corporation tax would be ring-fenced. If so, it would not be available for offsets against other taxes in a sovereign nation.
