Ciara Conway: I would like to comment on this. The voluntary code of registration that exists offers great protection to childminders. It also has a financial benefit, in that registered minders get a €15,000 tax break and allows them make PRSI contributions so they can claim a pension when they reach pension age. We need to promote this and advocate it.
