- Seanad: Criminal Justice (Withholding of Information on Offences Against Children and Vulnerable Persons) Bill 2012: Second Stage (Resumed) (10 May 2012)
Mark Daly: I welcome the Minister to the House and congratulate him on bringing forward this important legislation. It is long overdue. Unfortunately, the 1998 Act did not go far enough. Many people would be behind bars if the obligation to report sexual offences had been included in that Act. Can the Minister consider the issue of people being informed by a credible source that abuse has taken place...

- Seanad: Protection of Children's Health from Tobacco Smoke Bill 2012: Second Stage (9 May 2012)
Mark Daly: I welcome the Minister for Health, Deputy Reilly, to the House and thank him for his statement. We are fortunate to have him, as well as Senator Crown, in this debate. Both doctors have significant experience in this field and Senator van Turnhout has experience as an advocate of children's rights. To praise the Minister comes easy given he has welcomed the Bill. Since I was elected to the...
- Seanad: Review of White Paper on Irish Aid: Statements, Questions and Answers (9 May 2012)
Mark Daly: Our overseas aid budget is shrinking but our commitment to the European Union is remaining static. We have committed to meeting 1.17% of the cost of the various EU programmes in this area, some of which were discussed at the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade earlier. We will pay billions of euro in that way during the period between 2014 and 2020, to which the next tranche of...

- Seanad: Order of Business (3 May 2012)
Mark Daly: Senator Coghlan - my colleague, friend and fellow Kerryman - that Bill has been published. I can provide the Senator with a copy of the Bill, which is the NAMA and Irish Bank Resolution Corporation Transparency Bill 2011. There is no transparency in the manner in which NAMA or its agents are doing their business. No one in Cork knew the land was for sale.
- Seanad: Order of Business (3 May 2012)
Mark Daly: I am sure Senator Coghlan, as an auctioneer, is aware that the market gets its best price when land is put up for sale on the open market.
- Seanad: Order of Business (3 May 2012)
Mark Daly: I am asking that the Leader allow time for the introduction of the NAMA and Irish Bank Resolution Corporation Transparency Bill 2011. We are asking NAMA to sell everything on the open market in accordance with legislation enacted by the Dáil and Seanad. I halved state on numerous occasions that NAMA is, under section 35 of that legislation, supposed to sell land in accordance with the sale...
