Billy Kelleher: There is a lot of stress in society because many people have gone bankrupt or will end up bankrupt for many reasons. Just because a pharmacist is bankrupt does not mean that he or she is incapable of dispensing medicines for somebody else. I understand why he or she might not be allowed to establish a business under company law but he or she should be allowed to take up employment.

Billy Kelleher: I can assure the Minister of State that I have seen stranger things happen when legislation passed through the House and over many years.

Billy Kelleher: I have been part of them. I am quite sure that people who were there were also part of them from time to time. I wanted to raise the matter because I wanted to examine the issue. It is not too often that we have an opportunity to raise an issue. The provision to have a pharmacist struck off merits exploration in view of the two points that were made.
