Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Light Rail Projects (21 Feb 2019)

Noel Rock: I asked one straightforward question which was not answered. Does the report in this morning's edition of The Irish Timesalign with the Minister's understanding of the proposal based on his meetings with the NTA and TII? That question deserves an answer. Many people in the northside have been waiting in anticipation of this project for two to three decades. It seems we are at an impasse...

Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Light Rail Projects (21 Feb 2019)

Noel Rock: The reason the current alignment of Sandyford to Swords was chosen was to facilitate access to Cherrywood and the Sandyford industrial estate. People need to travel this route because the Luas green line will reach maximum capacity by 2027. The route was included in Project Ireland 2040 for this reason and we want it to go ahead.

Noel Rock: I welcome this morning's report and the mention in The Irish Timesof a north link proposal. I welcome the clarity that is beginning to be brought to this issue. Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Recycling Policy (14 Feb 2019)

Noel Rock: I did pen a rhyming couplet for the end so hopefully we will get this one on the record and the Minster can hear it. I am keen to see an effective response from the Minister. I know that his energy and enthusiasm when it comes to environmentalism is somewhat unparalleled and that he has hit the ground running on this issue. I was delighted to see he launched the single use plastics ban in...

Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Recycling Policy (14 Feb 2019)

Noel Rock: I thank the Minister for coming to the Chamber to discuss this matter. Anyone who has been out in any scenic area of the city or the country, be it near a canal or a river, in a park or on a beach, will be acutely aware of the blight on the landscape that plastic waste can often pose. We pride ourselves on Ireland being a green country and a beacon for tourists, and, indeed, an increasingly...

Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Electric Vehicles (7 Feb 2019)

Noel Rock: I thank the Minister for his answer. One point that jumped out at me was his comment that, since its introduction, the electric vehicle toll scheme has proven "very successful" – those were the Minister's words – with over 52% of all electric vehicles in the national fleet registered to avail of the incentive. This is free money, an incentive, yet only 52% of the people who...
