- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (6 Feb 2019)
Dessie Ellis: What about the site? Do they mention the site in the terms of reference?
- JobPath Programme: Motion [Private Members] (5 Feb 2019)
Dessie Ellis: The JobPath scheme has proved to be lucrative for a number of private companies. This is a scheme that comes at a significant cost to the taxpayer. Up to the end of last year, fee payments made to the two contractors, Seetec Employment and Turas Nua, which deliver the scheme, had amounted to €149 million since 2015, a shocking amount that could have been better used to assist people...

Dessie Ellis: 204. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if an application for the insulation of a house under the SEAI warmer homes scheme by a person (details supplied) will be considered; if the application will be expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4714/19]

Dessie Ellis: This is a sight for sore eyes.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Affordable Housing: Discussion (31 Jan 2019)
Dessie Ellis: I have been listening to all of the presentations in my office. I was at the conference yesterday and found it very interesting. It is clear that, by and large, the supply of social and affordable housing is the big issue and that the private market is not going to deliver it. I am disappointed that nobody has argued that the State should be operating a company and doing what we did back...

- Juvenile Crime: Motion [Private Members] (30 Jan 2019)
Dessie Ellis: Tá mé an-bhuíoch d’Fhianna Fáil as ucht an deis labhairt ar an ábhar tábhachtach seo. I have regularly spoken about some of the activities in question, such as joyriding and the use of quads and scramblers in built-up areas and public parks. My constituency, Dublin North-West is affected by a high level of juvenile crime and anti-social activities. I...
- No Consent, No Sale Bill 2019: Second Stage [Private Members] (29 Jan 2019)
Dessie Ellis: It is clear that vulture funds have no interest in reaching solutions with homeowners. They have no interest in restructuring loans or providing for interest only payments. The sale of distressed mortgages by banks such as Permanent TSB to vulture funds puts homeowners and renters in a very dangerous position that could result in large-scale repossessions. The Government has shown itself...
- Written Answers — Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment: Warmer Homes Scheme Eligibility (29 Jan 2019)
Dessie Ellis: 466. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if an anomaly will be addressed by which persons who have previously had their attics insulated by the SEAI under the warmer homes scheme do not qualify for exterior insulation which is now available under the scheme in view of the fact an address under current rules can only be visited once; and if he will make a...

Dessie Ellis: The Government was warned about the site.
- Anti-Evictions Bill 2018: Second Stage [Private Members] (12 Dec 2018)
Dessie Ellis: I welcome the Bill coming before the Dáil once again. However, it is a pity that we must hold the debate again because the Bill was defeated last year as a result of Fianna Fáil abstaining and the casting vote of the Ceann Comhairle going with the Government. We have a chance to correct that wrong. Those who voted against the Bill or who abstained last year have had 12 months to...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: BusConnects Bus Corridors Project: Discussion (12 Dec 2018)
Dessie Ellis: I thank Ms Graham and Mr. Creegan for being here today. BusConnects will impact hugely on the Swords, Finglas, Glasnevin and Ballymun to the city centre bus routes. While there are some complaints about services in these areas, in general they are good. The lack of feedback from the consultations concerns me. Like many other people, I made a number of submissions, but I have had no...

Dessie Ellis: I am waiting on the answers to my questions and then I will ask follow up questions.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: BusConnects Bus Corridors Project: Discussion (12 Dec 2018)
Dessie Ellis: I went to many consultation meetings on metro north and we were told it would take something like 70,000 cars off the road on a weekly basis. I am sure that number would be even more. With its potential impact, why have we not completed that process but jumped to this instead? I know we must improve standards and do things but it is in the programme for Government to build metro north....
