Climate Action: Statements (30 Sep 2021)

Verona Murphy: I will go back to the article: So, while the looming carbon budget could totally undermine Irish agriculture sector output in the name of an environmental ideology that views livestock production as equivalent to oil exploration, there is a row in the agri dressing room about sucklers versus dairy beef. A row equivalent to a fight over the deckchairs on the titanic, with the iceberg...

Public Accounts Committee: NAMA Financial Statement 2020 and Special Report 111 of the Comptroller and Auditor General (30 Sep 2021)

Public Accounts Committee: NAMA Financial Statement 2020 and Special Report 111 of the Comptroller and Auditor General (30 Sep 2021)

Verona Murphy: I want to ask a question on the consultancy costs, which seem to have increased exponentially. Note 13.11 on page 53 of the report states that the consultancy cost in 2019 was €800,000 and that it was €1.7 million in 2020, which is an increase of 94%. Can Mr. McDonagh explain that?

Verona Murphy: Does Mr McDonagh expect the figure to increase again?

Public Accounts Committee: NAMA Financial Statement 2020 and Special Report 111 of the Comptroller and Auditor General (30 Sep 2021)

Verona Murphy: Mr. McDonagh mentioned the wind-down. As the extension is now to 2025, have bonuses been paid to the executive or to Mr. McDonagh, as CEO, in regard to the extension to stay on?

Hospital Waiting Lists: Motion [Private Members] (28 Sep 2021)

Verona Murphy: I thank Sinn Féin for bringing forward this topic for discussion. The issue of hospital waiting lists has, in many cases, been exacerbated by the impact of the Government's response to the Covid pandemic. I have highlighted many times the scandal of curtailing services such as cancer screening as part of the Covid response. I hope big lessons have been learned from those decisions....

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (28 Sep 2021)

Verona Murphy: My question was the same as the last part of Deputy Carthy's question. I am happy.

Ombudsman for Children's Initiative on Eliminating Child Poverty and Child Homelessness: Statements (23 Sep 2021)

Verona Murphy: Child poverty and homelessness are concerning issues. Regardless of the number of children who fall into those categories, the aim should always be for zero cases. Zero cases may be almost impossible to achieve because of a wide variety of factors but it should still be the aim. The press release of the Ombudsman for Children, which I welcome, provides food for thought. We can clearly see...

Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation (23 Sep 2021)

Verona Murphy: The programme for Government states that delivery of mental healthcare will be through the Sharing the Vision roadmap. It appears this road map has bypassed Wexford. We have no full child and child and adolescent mental health service, CAMHS, team in Arden House and we have no paediatric dietician, even though I pointed out on a number of occasions in the House that there is an increase in...

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statement 2020 and Related Matters: HSE (Resumed) (23 Sep 2021)

Verona Murphy: I want to go back some of our questioning last week and follow on from Deputy Munster. I understand there were pressures but what I am hearing from Mr. Reid is it seems that despite the money provided, which itself seems to have been well in excess of that in other countries per capita, there were no control measures in place. All caution was thrown to the wind. I would have thought the...
