- Topical Issue Debate: Bus Éireann (4 Apr 2017)
Imelda Munster: On April fool's day a pay rise of €5,000 kicked in for Deputies. At least 90 Deputies, the bulk of whom are members of Government, snapped up that pay rise with both hands. Those same Deputies think that workers should accept a 30% cut in their wages. They think that it is fair that bus workers would accept a 30% cut in their wages. Those Deputies are hiding behind and, at the same...
- Topical Issue Debate: Bus Éireann (4 Apr 2017)
Imelda Munster: The Minister finally awoke from his slumber last Friday morning, if only for an hour or so. There was one reason and one reason only for that - the disruption that was brought to his front door, that is, Dublin - yet the Minister's outsourcing and privatisation agenda takes precedence over the travelling public, over workers' rights and over rural Ireland. Any attempt by the Minister or the...

- Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Estimates for Public Services 2017
Vote 31 - Transport, Tourism and Sport (Revised) (29 Mar 2017) Imelda Munster: It concerns the programme for civil aviation mentioned on page 5. The graph on page 3, on longer term expenditure trends, suggests the Department's expenditure is half what it was in 2008. Is the Minister working towards bringing it back up to that level? What are the plans?
- Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Estimates for Public Services 2017
Vote 31 - Transport, Tourism and Sport (Revised) (29 Mar 2017) Imelda Munster: Will the Minister expand on "miscellaneous services" mentioned on page 5? Do the moneys under the heading include staff pay? Does the Minister know offhand what the cost of staffing is? I recently read media reports which stated the Department was having difficulty in recruiting.

- Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Estimates for Public Services 2017
Vote 31 - Transport, Tourism and Sport (Revised) (29 Mar 2017) Imelda Munster: I am curious as to why the capital carryover, of €4.6 million, was not spent last year. On subhead B6, carbon reduction, the figure appears to be much lower. I refer to estimated expenditure in 2017, for which I would like an explanation.

Vote 31 - Transport, Tourism and Sport (Revised) (29 Mar 2017) Imelda Munster: The spend in subhead B3 was less than half of what was needed. What is the figure the Minister believes is required for 2017? Also, we are missing information on the national roads. Will the committee get that?

- Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Estimates for Public Services 2017
Vote 31 - Transport, Tourism and Sport (Revised) (29 Mar 2017) Imelda Munster: It would be remiss of me not to ask the Minister this next question. I refer to the subhead on page 9 on public and sustainable transport investment. It is about the Minister's public service obligation, PSO, figures for this year.
- Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Estimates for Public Services 2017

- Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Estimates for Public Services 2017
Vote 31 - Transport, Tourism and Sport (Revised) (29 Mar 2017) Imelda Munster: A further breakdown of this programme would be useful. There seems to be a slightly - it is slight - lower allocation for 2017. Why is this? It is said the Coast Guard is working in very unsafe and underfunded conditions. Does the Minister have a plan to rectify this and if so, is this reflected in the allocation?
