- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Cancer Screening and Care Services: Discussion (9 Dec 2020)
Colm Burke: Could we be given a presentation on the reduction level of cervical cancer as a result of the screening programme? We are not getting that message out there to the media. Since much of the focus has been on the negative side, it is important that we get out a message about the positive side as well. It would be helpful for the committee if we could get the up-to-date figures for reductions...
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Covid-19 Pandemic (8 Dec 2020)
Colm Burke: I very much welcome the Minister of State's statement and the statement by the Minister earlier today. I again raise the issue of the record keeping and how that will be completed. It is important that clarification on that is given at a very early stage. Whether people do or do not have medical cards, across the board we need to have careful records kept of who is getting the vaccine and...
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Covid-19 Pandemic (8 Dec 2020)
Colm Burke: It is welcome that the Minister has made the announcement today setting out clear guidelines in regard to how different groups will get the vaccine and the priority that has been decided. It is important that we acknowledge the work of everyone involved in this matter, in particular the National Immunisation Advisory Committee for its recommendations. I agree with my colleague about...

- Public Accounts Committee (2 Dec 2020)
Colm Burke: I thank the Chairman for making that statement. I welcome the decision by the Ceann Comhairle to respond to the letter from Arlene Foster. It was a very strong statement to the effect that nothing we do in here should in any way contribute to undermining the democratic process. I believe the tweet was offensive at a time when, more than ever, we all need to work together with the UK...
- Select Committee on Health: Estimates for Public Services 2020
Vote 38 - Department of Health (Supplementary) (2 Dec 2020) Colm Burke: I apologise for being late, I was at another meeting. The Minister was talking about the issue of community paramedicine. I have raised this matter before and have seen no evidence of a change for the coming year. We have taken on an additional 21,500 whole-time staff in the HSE. Including part-time people and everything else, 30,000 extra people are now working in the HSE compared with...

- Select Committee on Health: Estimates for Public Services 2020
Vote 38 - Department of Health (Supplementary) (2 Dec 2020) Colm Burke: I raised the issue with the HSE when its representatives were before us. The response given did not deal with the issue and there was no indication that the HSE would deal with this issue, which is disappointing.

- Select Committee on Health: Estimates for Public Services 2020
Vote 38 - Department of Health (Supplementary) (2 Dec 2020) Colm Burke: Yes. It would be good if we got some indication that the matter is being taken seriously. Over the past two years, I have raised the issue on quite a number of occasions and absolutely nothing has changed. As my colleague stated, another issue is that relating to public health doctors. It is important that we examine the issue and reach an agreement at the earliest possible stage.
- Select Committee on Health: Estimates for Public Services 2020
Vote 38 - Department of Health (Supplementary) (2 Dec 2020) Colm Burke: Can I raise one matter before we conclude? It is the issue that arises when the Dáil is sitting in the Convention Centre and committees are expected to sit at the same time. We need to get something done about that, perhaps even a simple change such as that votes would not take place before, say, 6.30 p.m. It is an issue we need to examine.

Chapter 11 - Social Housing
Chapter 12 - Land Aggregation Scheme.
Chapter 13 - Pyrite Remediation Scheme. (26 Nov 2020) Colm Burke: I wish to go through some of the sites that were purchased. In Goleen in west Cork, a lovely part of the country, €393,000 was paid for 0.82 ha. That is phenomenal money for west Cork. The second is Dripsey, where I come from myself, where over €500,000 was paid for 1.5 acres, which now has a value of €47,500. The third that really sticks out in my mind is the one for...
