- Seanad: Taxi Regulation Bill 2012: Committee Stage (Resumed) (19 Feb 2013)
Terry Brennan: This legislation will require taxi drivers with certain criminal convictions to apply to the court to maintain their licences. My county is adjacent to counties Monaghan, Meath, Dublin and Louth but, as a Border county, we are also adjacent to counties Down and Armagh. Will applicants from Northern Ireland who have convictions also be covered by the legislation? Will the same provisions...

- Seanad: Order of Business (19 Feb 2013)
Terry Brennan: Go raibh maith agat, a Chathaoirligh. I too have a good news story. We hear too many bad news stories. I believe it would be remiss of me not to welcome the announcement on Thursday last of a further 450 jobs in eBay in Dundalk. Today, a Member said this Government was not active. This announcement brings the total number of jobs created in Dundalk in the past 18 months, since this...

- Seanad: Order of Business (12 Feb 2013)
Terry Brennan: We all know small and medium-sized industries are the backbone of the economy given the part they play in many communities. I read in yesterday's newspaper that they are owed millions of euro by Departments and local authorities. Terry Brennan: The Minister stated here today that desertion was a very serious offence, that members of the Defence Forces during the Emergency were performing an important role and that no decision should undervalue their loyalty and service to this nation. Many who deserted went on to fight, as others have said, against fascism. Many were driven by a commitment to protect democracy from tyranny and...
- Seanad: Private Rented Sector: Statements (6 Feb 2013)
Terry Brennan: I recognise the part being played by the private landlord in providing accommodation at a time when little social housing is being built in any part of the country. I wish to highlight one experience of my own. Some two years ago, I visited a family in a three-storey premises in Dundalk. They lived at the top but the bathroom was at the bottom. Senator Keane referred to poor accommodation...

Terry Brennan: Long ago when I was on “The School Around the Corner” with Paddy Crosbie, he asked me what I was going to be when I grew up. I told him I was going to be an airline pilot. Having listened to this presentation, I am glad I did not become one.

Terry Brennan: It takes two years training to qualify to be an airline pilot. Are there many unemployed graduate pilots?
- Seanad: Order of Business (5 Feb 2013)
Terry Brennan: Along with my colleagues I want to acknowledge the significant contribution Senator Martin McAleese has made to the peace process in Northern Ireland. His was one of the most significant contributions which was made quietly in his own way and from the heart. I congratulate him on the report on the Magdalen laundries which all of us will have the opportunity to read in the near future. I...
