Mary Lou McDonald: Yes.

Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: I thank Mr. O'Brien for confirming that. I will summarise his evidence as I heard it. First, before appearing before this committee today, which is specifically asking questions about the difference between the draft document and the final document, Mr. O'Brien has not yet sought a copy of that draft to read for himself. I find that remarkable. Second, the terms of reference for Deloitte...

Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: Mr. O'Brien has not and did not sufficiently investigate that matter to arrive at that conclusion. As Deputy Cullinane has said, it is disingenuous of Mr. O'Brien to assert this at committee because he is, frankly, not in a position to make that assertion.

Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: That there not be evasion is the Deputy's point.

[45454/17]

Written Answers — Department of Housing, Planning, and Local Government: Traveller Accommodation (26 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: 272. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government the action his Department will take in circumstances in which a local authority does not meet its responsibilities as set out in the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act 1998. [45455/17]

Comptroller and Auditor General (Accountability of Recipients of Public Funds) (Amendment) Bill 2017: First Stage (25 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: I am very pleased to propose with Deputy Cullinane this simple but important Bill which could, if enacted, strengthen good governance, accountability and the public interest within all organisations in receipt of public moneys. I see no reason it would not be supported by the Government or, indeed, everyone in the Dáil. As a member of the Committee of Public Accounts for some years,...

Order of Business (24 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: My question revolves around a commitment in the programme for Government, on page 5, to enhance the lives of those with disabilities. Lewis Harte is from Castlebar, County Mayo. He suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a very serious life-limiting condition affecting a very small number of boys in Ireland. Lewis will turn six on 2 November, next Thursday. He is mobile, and he...

Leaders' Questions (24 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: The one feeds into and directs the other. I would like the Minister, as a member of Cabinet, to state his personal support for the funding of a new SAVI report and to state that he recognises the priority of this and that he is prepared to see an allocation-----

Leaders' Questions (24 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: -----of €1 million for this purpose.

Leaders' Questions (24 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: It is the right thing to do. Although the Minister has cited studies that have been and will be carried out, none are comparable to the SAVI report in terms of the depth of data produced and the depiction of the entire scope of sexual violence in Ireland. This is the right thing to do. The Minister is correct that it is about prioritisation. It is not lost on Members that €5...

Leaders' Questions (24 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: First, I extend a very warm welcome home to Irish citizen and fellow Dubliner, Ibrahim Halawa. I am sure everybody will join me in extending to him and his family our warmest wishes as he readjusts to life back home. Cead míle fáilte ar ais. Fáilte abhaile Ibrahim. I wish to raise the refusal of the Government to provide necessary funding to produce up-to-date research...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (19 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: I have read both. Statement No. 2 is just a shortened version of statement No. 1.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (19 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: As committee members, I am assuming that because both have been circulated to us, we have both. We cannot pretend that we do not. It is most unusual. I do not know whether we have ever had circumstances where an opening statement has been recanted before it has been delivered. We have both.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (19 Oct 2017)

Mary Lou McDonald: I propose that we publish both opening statements.
