- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform: Business of Joint Committee (11 Sep 2013)
Timmy Dooley: I will press the motion, but I would be very surprised if any member of the committee would support the withholding from the committee of information for which it has been crying out. I would be amazed if that happened.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform: Business of Joint Committee (11 Sep 2013)

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform: Business of Joint Committee (11 Sep 2013)

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform: Business of Joint Committee (11 Sep 2013)
Timmy Dooley: As committee members will be aware, financial data was transmitted to other European parliaments in advance of the budget last year, most notably to the Bundestag. It was a matter of deep concern in this country that information related our budgetary process was to be reviewed and commented upon in a parliament other than our own. As members of the committee are aware, the Irish Fiscal...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Rural Transport Programme: Discussion with National Transport Authority (23 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: I wish the National Transport Authority well in its efforts. It is evident that there is considerable support on the Government side for it. I have no doubt it will see an enhanced and increased budget coming forward at the end of the year to ensure it will be in a position to deliver on this watershed. That is probably the most welcome outcome from today.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Rural Transport Programme: Discussion with National Transport Authority (23 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: No. I simply recognise the commitment of the Government parties to this service and the Labour Party's commitment.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Rural Transport Programme: Discussion with National Transport Authority (23 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: I thank the witnesses for their comprehensive insight and answers. I return to my deep concerns about how we will see a dismantling of the service and the voluntary endeavour. Efforts have been made before to co-ordinate all transport requirements in rural Ireland working with the health boards and schools. So much voluntary work goes on with which the witnesses may or may not be familiar....
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Rural Transport Programme: Discussion with National Transport Authority (23 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: Perhaps Mr. Murphy would communicate the overall figure to the committee.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Rural Transport Programme: Discussion with National Transport Authority (23 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: I accept that there is a reduced amount of money but there are genuine fears as to how it is possible to bring a greater level of Government interference into a sector and expect that one can do the same with less money. Almost exclusively, when one increases Government involvement or regulation one dispenses with the voluntary activity because once the State takes greater control volunteers...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Rural Transport Programme: Discussion with National Transport Authority (23 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: I welcome Ms Graham and Mr. Murphy and thank them for coming before the committee today. It will be helpful in trying to establish the impact of the plans for restructuring. I have had an opportunity to review the plans for restructuring the rural transport programme. The main document is Strengthening Connections in Rural Ireland. In my reading of the document, however, the proposals...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: CIE Group Financial Situation: Discussion with Group Management (18 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: To clarify matters, I asked whether Ms Jupp or any of the chairpersons of the individual companies has had any meetings with the unions. Does Ms Jupp have the consolidated projected deficit for 2013?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: CIE Group Financial Situation: Discussion with Group Management (18 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: My questions are aimed at Ms Jupp and relate to the sale of Expressway and the part-privatisation of-----
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: CIE Group Financial Situation: Discussion with Group Management (18 Jul 2013)

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: CIE Group Financial Situation: Discussion with Group Management (18 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: What sort of plan has Ms Jupp, as chairman of CIE, put to the Government in terms of the protection of the integrated network and, effectively, a statement that if subvention is reduced, this will be the ultimate impact on the network?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: CIE Group Financial Situation: Discussion with Group Management (18 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: Just to clarify, I wanted Mr. Doherty to outline the impact that privatisation would have on the cash situation of Dublin Bus.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: CIE Group Financial Situation: Discussion with Group Management (18 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: I welcome the three chief executives. I also welcome the chairman of CIE, Ms Jupp. Is this the first occasion on which she has been before the committee?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: CIE Group Financial Situation: Discussion with Group Management (18 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: One of the main reasons for this meeting is to discuss the overall financial position of the public transport network. There was much concern last year when CIE came back to the Government looking for an additional €35 million outside the profile that existed and that had been presented by way of a budget for the year. The Department was able to find it within its overall budget but...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: CIE Group Financial Situation: Discussion with Group Management (18 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: I agree with that approach. A couple of minutes each should be sufficient and then we can retain the timeframe. We have the documentation and it would save time.
- Order of Business (18 Jul 2013)
Timmy Dooley: It is not agreed. This is a Bill that would make it easier to repossess the family home - effectively an eviction Bill - that plays into the hands of the banks. I suppose it is consistent with Government policy that leaves control in the hands of the bankers on the resolution of people's personal indebtedness
