- Leaders' Questions (9 Dec 2015)
Thomas Pringle: The Taoiseach has suggested that extra funding is being provided for the health service, but I remind the House that the budget for the health service is still €1.5 billion less than it was before the economic crash. Thomas Pringle: I fully support the motion on behalf of the Technical Group and commend Deputies Murphy, Donnelly and Shortall on tabling it. It is very timely and should be given serious consideration and supported by all Members of the House. It was really brought home to us when we saw the "RTE Investigates" programme at 9.30 p.m. last night, which featured images which were shocking for many. While we...

Thomas Pringle: I thank the Minister for his response, although it probably raises more questions than it answers. There are a number of issues. Thomas Pringle: It is the towing away of fishing gear by these vessels. It is a civil criminal matter rather than a matter for the SFPA. On receipt of such a report, how would gardaí interview the masters of these vessels when they stay offshore and do not land into Irish ports? Could they be asked to come in? These are major questions on how this is policed and we can do that as a member state....
