Mary Lou McDonald: What I want you to explain to me-----
- Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: I want the Accounting Officer to explain how it is that he omitted from the terms of reference of a review the core question that animated discussion at this committee, the core issue around funding, which upset and distressed the service provider. It believed it had been punished, in funding terms, and that the decisions were wrapped up with the issue of whistleblowing.

Mary Lou McDonald: That is deeply pedantic but carry on.
- Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: Pedantic commentary does not take from the seriousness of the questions, and the accountable person might bear that in mind.
- Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: May I put it to Mr. O'Brien that, as the accountable person and person whom I presume is in charge of the HSE, he is not without capacity to establish exactly what is going on within his own organisation and its decision-making organs?
- Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: Yes.
- Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: I thank Mr. O'Brien for confirming that. I will summarise his evidence as I heard it. First, before appearing before this committee today, which is specifically asking questions about the difference between the draft document and the final document, Mr. O'Brien has not yet sought a copy of that draft to read for himself. I find that remarkable. Second, the terms of reference for Deloitte...
- Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: Mr. O'Brien has not and did not sufficiently investigate that matter to arrive at that conclusion. As Deputy Cullinane has said, it is disingenuous of Mr. O'Brien to assert this at committee because he is, frankly, not in a position to make that assertion.
- Public Accounts Committee: Deloitte Report on Cost of Care in Grace Case (26 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: That there not be evasion is the Deputy's point.

- Comptroller and Auditor General (Accountability of Recipients of Public Funds) (Amendment) Bill 2017: First Stage (25 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: I am very pleased to propose with Deputy Cullinane this simple but important Bill which could, if enacted, strengthen good governance, accountability and the public interest within all organisations in receipt of public moneys. I see no reason it would not be supported by the Government or, indeed, everyone in the Dáil. As a member of the Committee of Public Accounts for some years,...

- Order of Business (24 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: My question revolves around a commitment in the programme for Government, on page 5, to enhance the lives of those with disabilities. Lewis Harte is from Castlebar, County Mayo. He suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a very serious life-limiting condition affecting a very small number of boys in Ireland. Lewis will turn six on 2 November, next Thursday. He is mobile, and he...
- Leaders' Questions (24 Oct 2017)

- Leaders' Questions (24 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: -----of €1 million for this purpose.
- Leaders' Questions (24 Oct 2017)
Mary Lou McDonald: It is the right thing to do. Although the Minister has cited studies that have been and will be carried out, none are comparable to the SAVI report in terms of the depth of data produced and the depiction of the entire scope of sexual violence in Ireland. This is the right thing to do. The Minister is correct that it is about prioritisation. It is not lost on Members that €5...
