John Gormley: Deputy Deenihan at least recognised that these were very small increases. I have heard it stated that this is anti-family, but how can it be suggested that an increase of 27 cent per week is anti-family? It is not. That is completely over the top.

John Gormley: Deputy Bannon is the one person who would ask what we are doing for local government. If the Deputy votes against this resolution, he is voting against extra revenue for local government. That is the bottom line.
