Marc MacSharry: I thank the Minister of State. Sadly, the response prepared for her on behalf of the Minister of State, Deputy Daly, is inadequate. There were chipped tiles and other issues. At no...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: I second that.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: I think it is a concern in all parts of the country that we are losing the local ownership and knowledge aspect of the service, which I regret. In fairness to Deputy Aylward, it would be good if we could hold over this matter.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: That is perfect. We can do it altogether.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: We have not really started our work on the ETBs. Dr. Thorn will continue with his work. I understand the concerns raised about the briefing and it is reasonable to write to highlight them to the Department of Finance but we should still forward the correspondence, both to the Department as part of our letter and to Dr. Thorn.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: Sorry. That is what I meant. We will probably have a good few meetings next year on the wider ETB subject, including the Kildare and Wicklow ETB.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: We should tell the Department that we have an issue with it.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: We should ask the Department to note it. We should say it has been highlighted and some members of the committee would have issues about it if its contents are true.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: Sorry, but I was distracted. What point is the Deputy raising?

Irish Bank Resolution Corporation Liquidation

Marc MacSharry: There is a finite number of attendees, so the Acting Chair might be more lenient with time.

Public Accounts Committee: 2016 Annual Report and Appropriation Accounts of the Comptroller and Auditor General
Chapter 3 - Cost of Bank Stabilisation Measures as at the end of 2016
Irish Bank Resolution Corporation Liquidation
(14 Dec 2017)

Marc MacSharry: We skipped over the correspondence on this so we would have an opportunity to go through it. Can my email be displayed on the screen? The initial correspondence from the Department of Finance to do with the legal issue came in on 12 December. There were two pieces of correspondence that came in after I had emailed my concerns on 13 December. What times on the 13th did they come in? There...

Marc MacSharry: That is grand. The other letter came in on the 12th, informing us of the plenary summons seeking declaration reliefs.
