Seanad: Order of Business (12 Jul 2017)

Ned O'Sullivan: I ask the Leader to invite the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to this House to initiate a debate on our seaside resorts. We are very fortunate in this country to have some of the finest, healthiest, cleanest and most natural beaches in the world. We have them right around the country, from Ballybunion to Salthill, from Bundoran to Skerries and right down to the Leader's native...

Seanad: Order of Business (11 Jul 2017)

Ned O'Sullivan: I have two brief items to bring to the attention of the Leader. They both relate to tourism, which as Members know is a huge contributor to the economy. Ned O'Sullivan: Fianna Fáil is 100% behind Ireland's bid for the Rugby World Cup in 2023 and we will support all Stages of the Bill, despite the less than satisfactory manner in which it has been presented to us, particularly the lateness of it and the rushed nature of its passage. As the Minister said, we are at the third stage of the process, which requires a number of Government guarantees and...

Seanad: Order of Business (28 Jun 2017)

Ned O'Sullivan: The leaving certificate and junior certificate examinations have just finished and I wish candidates all the best with their results. I am concerned about a recent statement issued by the State Examinations Commission to the effect that there is a serious shortage of examination markers or examiners, particularly in mathematics, Irish and language subjects in general. In a different life, I...
